Irish have to vote again and again and again...

While we hear of secret talks to create a European Union President and Foreign Minister that will begin in the New Year after the Irish government confirmed it would hold a second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty LINK, today Guest of honour on the 60th anniversary of the UN Declaration of Human Rights was Javier Solana LINK, and he praises the book of Tony Judt: "If anyone wants to know what happened on this continent after the Second World, they have to read this book." Interesting what Judt has to say about Israel, see here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Judt

stay tuned!

Wow.

from wiki link..."In 2003, Judt claimed in an article for the New York Review of Books argued that Israel was on its way to becoming a "belligerently intolerant, faith-driven ethno state."

If anyone is interested in hearing more this is a bit long, but he is influential at NYU.

I noticed that Judt critiqued John Mearsheimer's book "The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy." He seemed to think it didn't go far enough. Mearsheimer currently has a piece in the Dec. 8, 2008 Newsweek issue about "How to Fix the World, Global Agenda". Mearsheimer's piece is addressing the Middle East and is entitled, "Know the Limits of U.S. Power."

In it, he argues for a policy of "offshore balancing". Here is how he defines it: "The US would station its military forces outside the region. And balancing would mean we'd rely on regional powers like Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia to check each other. Washington would remain diplomatically engaged, and when necessary would assist the weaker side in a conflict. It would also use its air and naval power to respond quickly to unexpected threats. But - and this is the key point - America would put boots on the ground only if the local balance of power seriously broke down and one country threatened to dominate the others."

The entire section of the Newsweek issue is what President Elect Obama should be doing in various areas.

The opening article had several interesting sentences such as:

"One uses the urgent to pursue the important. Or put it another way: never let a crisis go to waste."

and

"Somet times a crisis provides an opportunity. The Washington G20 meeting, for instance, was an interesting portent of a future "post American" world.

Blogger Sauros has listed Kurzweil as last name on his "Heroes"-list on the left together with SOLANA, Obama, Sir Francis Bacon, Draco, Sun Tzu, Plato,...his view cleary expresses the goals of Club of Rome, as he writes "I'm a young professional who detests the vile, witless horde of useless eaters." The unclassified stuff on DARPA's site that I saw several months back was quite scary. I'd hate to see the classified projects..

Interesting sites, Bjorn.

Farmer, thanks for the reply.

I found a very interesting video presentation on "The Age of Transitions". Found on this site:

Transhumanism, the history of Eugenics in the USA and Germany, the New Age movement and the year 2012 (beginning of the Singularity) all seem to be inter-related. Possibly leading to a "Post Human" era!
